Welcome to the Hollister School District website! As Superintendent of this preschool through 8th grade district of approximately 5600 students, I invite you to explore our website to discover how we work as a professional learning community to ensure continued success of our staff and students. In the Hollister School District we are clear on WHAT we do and HOW we will do it. But most importantly we work to inspire extraordinary achievement in the adults who work in our district and the students who attend our district...this is WHY we do what we do.
Some of our recent accomplishments include an significant increase in the number of students scoring meets or exceeds on the state test in mathematics and the Accelerated Achievement Academy being named a 2016 California Honor Roll School for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We have also added transitional kindergarten classes at six of our seven elementary sites and extended the birthday cutoff date to enter transitional kindergarten by two months. We have balanced our budget so that we are no longer deficit spending and reallocated resources to provide training for all staff members.
Another reason to celebrate is the success of our Google University and Auxillum eLearning Hub. As part of our effort to become a Google Certified district, approximately 200 teachers, administrators, and other staff members have attended training to learn about Google docs, slides, sheets, mail, and sites. Having trained staff means students get access to the Google platform as well. Students in the Hollister School District are assigned a Gmail account and use the Google platform as a productivity tool in the classroom. Our eLearning Hub named “Auxillum” allows staff to receive training on the subjects they desire, anytime, anywhere. To read more about our technology implementation efforts, view our Technology Newsletter by clicking here.
One of our most visible accomplishments is the implementation of our Measure M General Obligation Bond. Through our Measure M Bond dollars, our schools have new modern buildings, classrooms, and facilities. We are greatly appreciative of our community for giving us the opportunity to improve the learning environment for students. Click here to view the Measure M page to see pictures of the projects at many of our sites. We have begun to implement the Measure V General Obligation Bond program and have begun to submit all need paperwork to the state to begin construction on our new school at Santana Ranch.
As we continue in our journey to inspire extraordinary achievement in staff and students, we will deepen and refine our implementation of Professional Learning Communities across the district, adopt Common Core aligned Science and Social Studies materials, improve access to our student and parent online portals and staff absence reporting system, continue to modernize our facilities, and build a new school for 900+ students. As true partners in our work, we will continue to seek strong partnerships within the community and seek input from our families to ensure the very best learning experience for our students.
Please feel free to contact my office at (831) 630-6306 or any of the other departments listed on our website if you would like more information or need assistance. It is only through collaborative efforts that we can all achieve!
